There are a total of three (3) prizes available to be won across Canada during the Contest Period. The total value of all prizes is $1,000 in Canadian dollars.

a. One (1) Grand Prize will be awarded, consisting of a pre-paid $500 gift card for;

b. One (1) Second Prize will be awarded, consisting of a pre-paid $300 gift card for; and

c. One (1) Third Prize will be awarded, consisting of a pre-paid $200 gift card for

In addition, the remaining seven (7) entries, ranked 4-10, will be selected for promotion and accolades as described below.

The odds of winning a prize depend upon the number of entries received during the Contest Period.

Seven (7) Fairstone panelists will review all entries, in both languages, and select the top ten (10) submissions (the “Finalists”). Panelists will be from the Fairstone Branch Network, the Marketing Department, and other locations.

The judging criteria is entirely within the discretion of Fairstone, but will generally involve considerations such as uniqueness, the effectiveness of the message, and the general value of the message in promoting financial literacy. All decisions of the judges are final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest.

Where the same or substantially similar message is submitted by different Facebook users, and where that message is selected as a Finalist, a random draw will take place and the randomly selected entry will proceed to final judging. Where more than one message is submitted by the same Facebook user, and the messages contain at least two messages which are the same or substantially similar to one another, only one entry will proceed to final judging.

Once the Finalists are selected, voting will take place. Each panelist will rank the Finalists from one (1) to ten (10), with one being the highest selection. The Finalist with the lowest overall score from the panelists will be selected to receive the Grand Prize, the second-lowest overall score will be selected to receive Second Prize, and so forth, until all prizes have been allocated. In the event of a tie in the number of votes received, Fairstone will randomly select a winner for that prize from those Finalists that tied.

For those Finalists ranked 4 through 10 that did not win a Prize, their Money Tip will be promoted on the Fairstone Facebook page, and sent to financial literacy agency Junior Achievement Canada for use in the promotion of its financial literacy programs for youths.

Selection of Finalists will be completed by Fairstone at Suite 1000, 255 Queens Avenue, London, Ontario N6A 5R8 between Tuesday February 26, 2019 and Tuesday March 5, 2019. Finalists will be contacted using the email address provided during the registration process by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 6, 2019. Winners will be announced on Fairstone Facebook page once waivers have been signed.

To be declared the winner of a prize, within five (5) business days of receipt, selected Finalists must correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question and sign Fairstone’s standard release form. Fairstone may provide a short list of questions or ask for feedback on the Contest, but providing a response to questions or feedback will be entirely voluntary and will not affect the outcome of the Contest.

The release form will contain consent to the use of the Finalists’ first name and last initial, unique Facebook handle, City/Province of residence, and the money tip provided (in a complete or abridged format). The consent shall be irrevocable, and permit Fairstone or Junior Achievement to use the information in advertising or other publicity by Fairstone and/or its agencies, without any payment or other compensation, including, without limitation, consent to publication of the foregoing on the Fairstone website(s), microsite(s), e-newsletter, video, various social media channels, blog, or any other locations without compensation.

If Fairstone, acting reasonably, cannot contact a selected entrant within seven (7) business days of the date voting closes, or if such person does not qualify, the entrant with the next greatest number of votes will be selected. Fairstone will make reasonable efforts to contact and qualify that person within seven (7) further business days, failing which another name will be selected, and so on, until the earlier of Fairstone contacting all of the top ten (10) Finalists or the Prize Claim Deadline.
