Greetings from Winnipeg!

Hé Ho! That’s the official greeting of Winnipeg’s Festival du Voyageur, an annual celebration held in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Meaning “Festival of the Traveler,” Festival du Voyageur is a 10-day winter festival that celebrates French Canadian history in Winnipeg’s French Quarter, Saint Boniface. Over the course of the celebration, festival-goers experience the culture and history of the Voyageur, Métis and First Nations people who founded Canada’s west.

For the second year in a row Fairstone had the honour of supporting the Festival as a major sponsor. We were also the Presenting Sponsor of the Rendez-vous on Ice, a weekend-long celebration that kicks off the Festival with live music, an outdoor fashion show, games of shinny and more for ice skaters and walkers venturing along the forks of the frozen Red River. Traditional music, spectacular snow sculptures and cuisine kept attendees entertained and fueled while open-fire warming stations brought warmth to the chilly (-35 degree Celsius) day.

Twelve Fairstone employees from our five Winnipeg locations volunteered their time at the festival and set up shop at our booth on the Red River. The experience of being there, on ice with the festival’s 102,000 visitors, is one that brought us closer to one of the communities we call home and reaffirmed our belief in the value and importance of community.

Thank you, Winnipeg, for the hospitality. We look forward to next year’s Festival du Voyageur!
